Here are answers to some of the most common questions clients ask before starting therapy.
Beginning therapy can be daunting and confusing. How do you know therapy will help? Who is the right therapist for you? How does therapy work? How much will it cost? How long until I feel better? The FAQ below may help!
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, a bit about the history of this concern, what changes you’re hoping to see as a result of therapy, and how I can support you. It’s also a time for you to ask questions and see if this feels like a good fit.
Sessions are typically 55 minutes and most clients choose to meet weekly, especially in the beginning. However, we can discuss a schedule that fits your needs, capacity, and budget.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not like yourself — therapy can help. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit. Many of my clients are high-functioning professionals or caregivers who need a space to pause, reflect, and reset.
You’re not alone. Many clients come to therapy knowing something needs to change, but not knowing exactly what or how. We can begin wherever you are — even if that’s just putting language to what you’re feeling for the first time.
I specialize in burnout, midlife transitions, emotional fatigue in entrepreneurs and caregivers, and working with adult children of emotionally unavailable parents. Many of my clients carry a lot on the outside while feeling disconnected on the inside.
I also specialize in helping single women who wish to have one or more children explore whether becoming a solo mom on purpose is a possibility for them.
My work is integrative and collaborative. I draw from evidence-based modalities and mind-body practices to help you reconnect with yourself, understand your patterns, and move toward the life you want — without the pressure to perform or fix everything at once.
That’s a valid concern. I work at your pace—balancing between creating a space where you don’t feel rushed, judged, or boxed into someone else’s idea of healing with supportively challenging and guiding you toward confidence and change.
Some people feel better as soon as they begin the therapy process. That’s because you’ve already decided that feeling better is possible, which open up space in your mind and actions for growth.
Some people may not feel better immediately because it can be difficult to confront and discuss painful thoughts, feelings, and events in your life. But looking at your difficulties is the first step toward changing them.
Therapy is not a linear process—there are times you may feel stagnant, times you may want to retreat, and times you surge ahead with new insight and confidence. Together, we will regularly assess how therapy is going for you and plan our steps forward accordingly.
I am an Out-of-Network (OON) provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly.
You can check if you have OON benefits here.
I offer courtesy billing through Reimbursify where I submit your OON claims. All you have to do is attend sessions which are automatically charged and then wait for your reimbursement check!
Alternatively, I can provide a Superbill that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. I’m happy to walk you through this process if it’s unfamiliar.
